Szavay moves on in Prague; Garrigues ousted

07/16/2010 - Prague, Czech Republic (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Last week's Budapest titlist Agnes Szavay advanced to the semifinals of the $220,000 Prague Open tennis event with a straight set win over Slovenian Polona Hercog.

The seventh-seeded Szavay handled Hercog, 6-1, 6-4, in just 70 minutes on the red clay at Stvanice.

In a minor upset, Lucie Hradecka downed fifth-seeded Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues, 6-4, 7-5, and the Czech will face Szavay for the right to play in the final.

Eighth-seeded Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova and veteran Swiss Patty Schnyder will meet in the other semifinal. Strycova outlasted Johanna Larsson of Sweden, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, while Schnyder was a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 winner over Georgian Anna Tatishvili.

Szavay bested Schnyder in last week's Budapest finale for the second time in two years.

El Duque expected to throw Tuesday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday.

Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine.

El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.
